SIFT Presentation

Each year, 24 students from University geoscience programs across Canada are invited to Calgary to participate in a two-week intensive petroleum industry field trip known as SIFT (Student Industry Field Trip). Throughout SIFT, students participate in lectures, workshops, core sessions, field trips, and a real-life exploration game that expose them to the many aspects of the oil and gas industry within Canada. SIFT provides students with what could be their first exposure to the petroleum industry and provides the opportunities students use to build their networks for a career within the oil and gas industry. Through the job program, networking opportunities, and course content, SIFT is an incredible opportunity. Please come join SMU Earth Science undergraduate students Carson Bowering and Noah Heatly as they discuss their experience participating in SIFT 2026.

If you are interested in learning more about the program, please join our SMU Earth Science undergraduate students, Carson Bowering and Noah Heatly, who will discuss all the components of the field trip, drawing on their experience participating at SIFT 2026.
